Would you like to spend an exceptional family holiday, divided between discovery, activities and relaxation? You will discover Marrakech, a city of 1001 nights, the summits and green valleys of the High Atlas, the luxuriant palm groves and magnificent kasbahs of the South and not forgetting Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of Africa and the magical world of cinema.
The morning is free. In the afternoon, a guided tour of the Majorelle gardens, followed by a carriage ride past the Bab Doukkala gate and through the medina to Djemaa El Fna square. Stroll through the souks and square. Return to your Riad/Hotel in the late afternoon.
In the morning, stroll through the Skoura palm grove, with its pretty oasis gardens surrounded by adobe walls. Between the two stand ancient kasbahs, residential castles, sometimes in ruins, sometimes still used as homes and sometimes transformed into beautiful hotels. A visit to the Amerdhil kasbah, now a museum, will give you an insight into the life of the oasis inhabitants. You will then head for Ouarzazate. Visit the 18th-century Taourirt kasbah, once the official seat and residence of the powerful Pasha El Glaoui, who controlled the entire region southeast of Marrakech until 1956, and the neighborhood that forms part of it.
One of the day's main attractions is a visit to the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, an imposing ksar dating back to the 16th century. With its interlocking houses, towers and granaries, it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. One of the best-preserved ksour in the country, it has been the setting for numerous films, including "Game of Thrones", "Lawrence of Arabia", "Babel", "Gladiator" and "Jesus of Nazareth". As you stroll through this labyrinth of narrow streets and staircases, you'll get an idea of the ancestral architecture made of adobe and clay bricks, and the way of life of the large families who lived there and some of whom still do. We then return to Marrakech via the Ounilla valley and the High Atlas. Before the pass, in the village of Telouet at an altitude of 1,800 m, stands the famous Kasbah du Glaoui, once the seat of power of this powerful Berber lord. The roof terrace offers a magnificent view of the High Atlas and the village. Crossing the Tizi N'Tichka, one of Morocco's highest passes (2,260m), offers breathtaking views of the valleys and villages clinging to the mountainside. Arrival in Marrakech late afternoon.
